How the Endurance Inspired Endurance
Sir Ernest Shackleton had a goal.
Be the first man to cross Antarctica from sea to sea. However, shortly after the expedition began, disaster struck. The ship, named the Endurance, was crushed by pack ice. Shackleton spent the next nine months on a new goal: Keeping his 28-man crew alive during their thousand-mile trek across pack ice, open ocean and glaciers to safety. Every man survived.
It is this tale that kept our CEO Hari Ravichandran motivated when he was down to 14 employees after the dot-com crash.
As the internet was beginning to take off we had an idea. Start a company to get small business onto the web quickly and cheaply.
BizLand.Com was born. Bizland flourished quickly but just as quickly crashed when the bubble burst.
Resized and with the lessons learned at BizLand, Endurance emerged with 14 employees.
Starting with Customer acquisitions and the construction of leading back-end tools, Endurance began to gain traction.
And the journey moved forward with a multi brand strategy serving a breadth of Customer preferences.
A commitment to superior Customer service and reinvestment helped position Endurance as a trusted partner for small businesses.
And now backed by Warburg Pincus and GS Capital Partners, we continue the march.
With over 2500 employees, Endurance is used by over 3 million subscribers in the world today. And now with an international presence, we are set to offer our solutions to small over the world. As advocates of the benefits of Open Source, and with an ever growing talent pool, our journey is just beginning.
